IN OTHER WORDS

The normally consistent MacDonald struggled to gain momentum in 2006 often putting on incredible performances early in events but then not following through when it counted. MacDonald is known as one of the toughest nuts on the Foster’s ASP World Tour and we expect that he will return to the top end of the ratings in 2007 which is where he landed in 2005 (Phil finished in 5th place in 2005). The solidly built regular footer was raised in powerful waves on the southern NSW coast and after an impressive junior career; Phil took on the WQS grind eventually cracking the big tour in 2002. With endorsements from former powerbroker Sunny Garcia, Macca was originally considered primarily a power surfer. However, MacDonald has revealed he has plenty to offer with a large variety of turns in his repertoire with him incorporating large aerials and flashy tail sliding into his already slick attack. He is intimidated by no one and in his own words he's "not here to finish second..."
